Our client asked us to design a residential villa that offers a contemporary interpretation of a traditional Aruban house infused with the spirit of a Portuguese palazzo. The brief revolved around a central courtyard framed by arched porticos, conceived as the social and climatic heart of the home. Natural stone materials ground the architecture in the island’s geology, while refined finishes introduce a layer of sophistication and craft. The design balances structure and improvisation - solid masonry rhythms set the tempo, while moments of lightness, texture, and unexpected detail riff off tradition, creating a residence that feels both timeless and alive.
